MY CD REVIEW

Eye to the Telescope
KT Tunstall

CD Review

"It doesn't take a genius to see this girl's outstanding!", September 18, 2005

Reviewer: crazy_slaya90 from London, England

When I first heard "Other Side Of The World", I thought "OK, this isn't anything special... nice song but still..." Then my friend Polly played me a song on her iPod called "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and I thought "Woah! Who wrote this?!"

I looked at the artist and I saw KT Tunstall. From then on, I was hooked. The very next day, I ran into town and bought the first copy of Eye to the Telescope I could lay my hands on. My favourite tracks quickly formed into the shapes of "Heal Over" and "Suddenly I See" (and Black Horse...)

The tracks range from mellow (Universe And U) to bluesy-jazz (Black Horse...), and even the worst track (Another Place To Fall) I would class as brilliantly-original!

But the one thing that really got me hooked is Tunstall's passion for her music, and her spectacular guitar-playing. The rawness of some of her tracks (Other Side Of The World, Silent Sea, Minature Disasters) make this probably the best album sitting on my shelf (well, that's the album cover - the CD hasn't come out of my CD player since I bought it!).

My favourite out of all of them would have to be Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. The blend of funky jazzy drumming, and daring (appeearingly) non-sensical lyrics make for the best song I've heard since since... forever!

Seriously, if you buy one album this year, make it this one. KT Tunstall is set to be THE biggest talent to come out of Scotland for years. Get ahead, and get on the Tunstall wagon NOW! You won't regret it...!
